I Pity The Fool

MrT

Spend time with the wise and you will become wise, but the friends of fools will suffer. Proverbs 13:20

We want to have compassion for others and reach out to them, but we don’t want to be a friend of fools! It’s time to check yo’self! Who are you hanging with? Who do you allow to influence you?

While we all have made foolish decisions in our lives, no one wants to be considered a foolish person. A fool is a perpetual bad decision-maker, the type of person that seems to reject learning and the wisdom that comes from it. They think they know it all!

Not sure what a fool looks like? Be on the lookout for these four people as you walk through your day. Maybe you know some of these people!

The Moron: This person can’t tell the difference between truth and falsehood. They lack direction. This person refuses to admit that they don’t know what they don’t know. Because of that, they are headed for failure.

The Joker: This fool laughs at wisdom and those that seek it. They actually ridicule people that do the right thing. Don’t bother warning this person of the consequences of their actions, because they don’t really care. They’ll say “it won’t happen to me” because they think they are smarter than everyone else.

The Arrogant Punk: This person willfully ignores wisdom and lives only for themself. They are not a learner, and people don’t like to work closely with them. This person is always “looking out for number-one” and all that matters is “what’s in it for me?” Although life may seem to go their way, look out! It is only temporary. This person will take you down with them.

The Rebel: This fool actually hates wisdom and thinks they look cool doing it! In reality, they reject learning, although they have become a master of hiding it. This person thinks that truth is relative! Nothing is really right or wrong. This fool’s overwhelming ego can disguised as extreme confidence.

Do any of these descriptions fit those in your circle of friends? If so it’s time to find a new circle. Take a real look at who weilds influence in your life and make sure that you are surrounding yourself with the right they.
